energy crisis and oil facts

Talking about simple  ignorance, most Americans are ignorant and have not figured it out when it comes to energy and oil, and global economic politics.   Oil is a strategic commodity, not a free market.  Being strategic, it is an economic and political power eqivalent to any military force.   It is not cornflakes or Starbucks with alternatives.  The last great strategic commodity goes back to salt, back only a century.  Salts ability to preserve food was the foundation of civilization. Salt created and destroyed nations. Salt carried heavy taxes.   During the war of 1812 salt was used to pay solders.  Ghandi had his great India Salt March to the sea in 1930 against the English salt tax and for the freedom of citizens to make their own salt.

Just as new technologies in canning and electricity-refrigeration brought an end to the strategic power of salt, the same will be required to break free from the powers of Muslim Arab oil.  Oil has to do with gas, petrol,  with the TRANSPORTATION industry worldwide, essential to western economies.  Less than 2% goes to making electricity.  Wind, solar, nuclear technologies advanced by politicians will do nothing for the transportation industry, for gas prices.  Like it or not, the short term breaking the OPEC Arab Muslims bleeding and transfer of massive USA wealth (that they use to buy USA properties and businesses) will take alcohol from many sources, ethanol (corn, sugar, switch-grass, etc) and Methane (coal, natural gas, waste), along with DRILL DRILL DRILL!

Keep in mind that there is no tariff on oil, but there is an equivalent $25 per barrel tariff on imported ethanol, thanks to the ag lobby.  Drop that tariff and start importing sugar ethanol.  Drop that tariff we have on sugar that forces the food industry to use corn syrup.  Stop trying to make corn a strategic commodity.

Oil is political and the ARAB's, not the USA, are in control.  Who controls the supply?  In 1973 OPEC put out 30 MBPD.  In 2007, 30 MBPD, the same.   In 1973 the non-OPEC nations put out 25 MBPD, and in 2007, 45 MBPD.   OPEC has held their output constant for 35 years.  Why, when the Non OPEC has almost doubled theirs? Actually, as the world puts out more, the ARABS back down their production.  The current big drop of about 1 MBPD is being done by OPEC's Venezuela'n marxist Hugo Chevez who hates the USA.   (Venezuela contains some of the largest oil and natural gas reserves in the world. It consistently ranks among the top ten crude oil producers in the world).

In 2008, oil is in an all out world war.  Muslims believe oil is Allahs gift to them and they deserve reparations for past cheap oil.  Chevez is anti-capitalist. With the $3 Billion daily flow from the world into OPEC, into Arabs, and to Muslims and Marxists beyond, the western economies are funding both sides of the Iraq-Afganistan war.  Getting out of Iraq does nothing about our continual funding the other side through oil.   Muslims have the USA wrapped up in their spider web, and not by accident. It has nothing to do with India and China prosperity.  We can flounder, or fight back!

Understand that OPEC was formed in 1960 with five founding members Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela. Not many friends there!  By the end of 1971 six other nations had joined the group: Qatar, Indonesia, Libya, United Arab Emirates, Algeria and Nigeria.  Angola joined in 2007.  In  1973 when Syria and Egypt attacked Israel the United States and many countries in the western world showed support for Israel.  As a result of this support several Arab exporting nations imposed an embargo on the countries supporting Israel. Arab nations curtailed production by 5 million barrels per day (MBPD). Hi story repeats itself.  American public learned nothing in 1973.

Although new countries join OPEC, they do not increase output to include the new countries, so many member nations like Iran decrease their share of output.  As we produce more, they will produce less as in Iran and Venezuela.   They, not American consumers, control the price.  Supply, not demand, controls the price, and for all purposes, the ARABS at the moment have a monopoly.   Economics 101.  The American task is to turn technology loose, destroying oil as a strategic commodity, making it as commonplace as salt.  And congress really needs to review tariffs and subsidities that hinder our freedom from oil.

Social governments get the oil money

“Greedy corporations making massive profits?” That is deceptive reporting. Define OIL for what it truly is! OIL is you and I, not an IT or a THEY. Financial Institutions that you and I, and pension funds, invest savings in own oil. Nobody was complaining back in the 1990's when they (we, our investment portfolio's) were losing. Check out the industry financial numbers on Yahoo Finance.

First, investors (retirement and savings funds) have over $3 Trillion of life savings at risk in this industry employing a half million people who also pay massive taxes.   Industry gross profit is around $240 Billion. Of that, government gets $100 Billion. About $91 billion is invested back into the business for expansion. About $7 billion goes to banks for the long-term debt they carry. Finally, out of it all, $6 billion goes to stockholders, or .2% on the risk capital.   Corporate Tax in the US is 5th highest in the 30-nation organization, at 35%. That excludes around 6-8% to State corporate tax. That excludes the $70 billion the industry pays out for government Social Security and Medicare taxes on those 500,000 employees, also accumulated into the end price tag of gas.

It is not OIL that gets the most money. It is government. First, the government kept all mineral rights in all those homestead land grants.  Know that oil exploration only happens upon any lands or waters unless authorized by a government. Government gets paid for that access, and every step in the supply chain including point of consumption.

Gas prices around the world run from 14 cents a gallon in non-taxation countries like Venezuela, upward to $6.50 a gallon in the more socialist countries like the Netherlands and Norway. The recurring cost to make a gallon of gas is less than 50 cents if refined at the point of the pumping. It is not the oil companies that suck out that extra $6.

They say we travel 2 trillion miles in USA and that equates to about 100 billions of gallons of gas. That says that this $170 billion in taxes paid by the corporations to federal and state adds about $1.70 to the costs of gas. This excludes the taxes at all the other supply chains feeding into this oil industry, and taxes at the local distributive and retail ends which adds likely another good 50 cents. As I said, for $3 gas a gallon, you figure out who is getting the most, the biggest piece of the total pie. The approximate $2.20 to the government, or the 1 ½ percent or 5 cent return to we the stockholders.

Know your basic economics. Corporations are tax collectors. Consumers pay all the taxes. The gas explorer’s pays taxes and passes it on.  The driller pays taxes and plows it into the costs passed on.  And, so on and so for the pumpers, the tankers, the refineries, the truckers, the gas stations, the attendants.  Each and every stop of the supply chain pay taxes and passes it onward accumulated into the end retail cost.  In the end, the consumer pays the tax. For a $4 gallon of gas, at least half, or $2 is trickled into government over the supply chain process.  Compared to that, little flows into our financial institutions for we the owners benefits. We pay at the pump now as consumers, or pay at time of retirement with less capital gains and with a lesser purchasing power.  Liberals are raiding our retirement purchasing powers, but we won't know that until it is too late.

Power of Political Portraits & Obama the Great

The power of the political portrait goes back to 326 BC, to Alexander the Great of Greece. Since then, to let the multicultural masses know who has the central power, the political portrait has been stamped on coins by kings, rulers, presidents, and dictators. The powers of the enhanced portrait to persuade are the vital tools of politicians and Hollywood, those big ego’s in the industry of image management.

During this election year, we will be bombarded with daily portraits of politicians to persuade us that they have courage, passions, strengths, character, soul, and to put trust and hope in them. We need to ready ourselves for the deceptions. Then comes the conventions and the masses will be flooded with portraits, icons, and images. Then comes the punch line.

Obama the Great has decided to give his acceptance speech, the closing of the 2008 Democrat convention, in a football stadium. The powerful image will be that used by Hitler in his march to power, to stand upright, outspoken, and strong in front of 70,000 encouraging, cheering and swooning multicultural faces. The media camera will focus on the faces, back and forth, between Obama’s and certain individuals of the masses, the Black, the Asian, the Hispanic, the Woman, the young, the old, the handicapped, the Hollywood celebrity icons in the stadium. To the multicultural observer, all will be emotionally persuaded to unite with the crowd, to scramble to the bandwagon. And, it will work, for it worked for Alexander the Great back in 326BC, when he ruled over a multicultural empire, and invented this political unifying tactic.

Talk cooks no rice.  Words come and go.  But powerful images become embedded forever!  In this election go-around Madison Avenue will prevail over Wall Street, personality over substance. History will repeat itself.   The blind masses will get what they deserve.
